Education is a Human Right Program

           The main focus of EHRP is University Courses Project offering classes at various colleges across Hawaii both public and private. Over 50 courses have been offered with over 20 different titles in fields of human rights law, political science, journalism and peace studies. One of the pinnacle projects is the multiple week summer seminar with comprehensive focus and one week summer symposium focusing on specific themes.

          Beyond the Pacific classroom, EHRP provides human rights courses in New York, Washington, D.C. and Geneva for Hawaii students. EHRP also provides legal training at the UN Headquarters in New York, the U.S. Capitol at UDC School of Law in Washington D.C. and the UN in Geneva for NGOs, indigenous peoples and young peace professionals from various regions and the world.

          EHRP facilitates the annual course at the International Training Center for Teaching Peace and Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland offering speeches and talks as well as strategies and tactics in peace education to fellow educators from Togo to Tonga and Canada to Chile.

          EHRP also teaches each semester in high schools of Hawaii in Global Studies and Media Literacy while also offering peace programs for interested institutions from kindergarten to community life-long learning associations. 

          The EHRP also creates educational material from nonviolence training manuals to human rights law bookmarks of simplified international instruments and institutions. These materials are utilized from peaceful protests on major policy issues to classroom curriculum.  HIHR offers syllabii from the college and university courses on the website for people around the world to learn whenever time allows in their lives.
